North Platte Panthers football is opening the field to its youngest players next month with a youth football camp for K through 6 students at North Platte High School.

The camp is scheduled for Friday, May 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., giving future Panthers an evening built around football fundamentals, hands-on instruction, and early connection with the high school program.

The event is open to kindergarten through sixth grade players, making it a useful spring opportunity for families looking to get younger athletes involved before summer activities begin.

The camp gives kids a chance to learn the basics of the game in a school football setting without the pressure of a full season.

For younger players, that kind of first step can make the sport feel more comfortable. You can pre-register by heading to Google form link.

They get time on the field, instruction from people connected to the program, and a better feel for the skills that show up later in youth leagues and school football. The focus is football and fundamentals.

That usually means the kind of work young players need most, from movement and footwork to basic position skills, ball handling, tackling form without live contact where appropriate, and understanding how the game is played.

For players already involved in football, the camp can sharpen early habits. For kids trying it for the first time, it gives them a low-pressure way to learn and have fun.

North Platte High School also gives the event a stronger local pull.

When younger athletes get to practice on the same campus tied to the Panthers program, it can make the experience feel bigger than a regular youth clinic.

It also helps build a connection between the high school team and the next group of players coming through the community.

For parents, the timing is practical. A Friday evening camp from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. keeps the event short, focused, and easier to fit into a school-week schedule.

It also gives families a local option before summer camps, travel schedules, and other activities start filling the calendar.

Youth camps like this often do more than teach drills. They help build interest, confidence, and program pride early.

Players get to be around football in a structured setting, meet coaches and older program figures, and start seeing themselves as part of the Panthers football path.

The May 8 camp is a good chance for North Platte’s younger athletes to get active, learn the game, and spend an evening around the program.

For the Panthers, it is also another way to keep football growing from the youngest grades up.
