The Oklahoma City Thunder still have not lost a playoff game in 2026, and with every win the conversation around this team gets louder.

Oklahoma City pushed its postseason record to 6-0 after beating the Los Angeles Lakers 125-107 in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals on Thursday night. T

he Thunder had already swept the Phoenix Suns in the opening round, and now they are halfway to another sweep after taking complete control of the series against Los Angeles.

What makes the run stand out is not just the wins. It is the way Oklahoma City keeps overwhelming teams for long stretches of games.

The Lakers briefly led at halftime Thursday before the Thunder exploded in the third quarter behind Chet Holmgren, Shai Gilgeous Alexander and one of the deepest benches left in the playoffs.

Oklahoma City’s reserves outscored the Lakers bench 48-20, another reminder that this roster keeps producing offense even when the stars sit.

The Thunder now sit at 64 regular season wins and an unbeaten postseason run, giving them one of the strongest combined seasons in franchise history.

Basketball Reference lists Oklahoma City with the NBA’s best defensive rating and best overall net rating during the regular season, and those numbers are carrying directly into May basketball.

Oklahoma City’s playoff dominance is becoming bigger than one series

The scary part for the rest of the league is that Oklahoma City has not depended on one player carrying everything.

Gilgeous Alexander remains the centerpiece, but the Thunder have won playoff games through defense, transition offense, bench production and relentless pace.

Holmgren has looked comfortable on both ends of the floor, while younger rotation players continue to swing momentum in key stretches.

Against the Lakers, Ajay Mitchell scored 20 points off the bench and Jared McCain added 18, helping Oklahoma City completely flip the game after halftime.

The postseason path started with complete control against Phoenix. Oklahoma City opened the playoffs with a 119-84 blowout over the Suns and never really slowed down from there.

By the time the Lakers series began, the Thunder already looked like the most complete team remaining in the Western Conference.

There is also a growing sense that this is no longer just a young team learning how to win. Oklahoma City has now been a No. 1 seed for three straight seasons, joining territory usually reserved for long term contenders.

The franchise already had one of the league’s best records before the playoffs started, but staying unbeaten this deep into May has changed the conversation from “promising” to legitimate championship favorite.

The next challenge comes in Los Angeles

The series now shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3, where the Lakers will try to hand Oklahoma City its first playoff loss of the year.

That task looks difficult right now because the Thunder are winning games in multiple ways.

They have dominated defensively at times, controlled transition play, forced turnovers and punished teams with depth.

Even in games where Gilgeous Alexander has dealt with foul trouble or quieter scoring stretches, Oklahoma City has still found another run that completely changes the game.

The unbeaten streak has also energized the fan base. Thunder supporters online were already counting down wins remaining to a championship after Thursday’s result, with one fan writing “10 more to get” following the Game 2 victory.

The playoffs are still far from over, but Oklahoma City has reached the point where every game starts to feel tied to something larger. The wins are stacking up, the pressure keeps increasing and the Thunder still have not blinked once this postseason.
