Great Oak High School has named David Hall as the new head coach of its girls basketball program, bringing in the current Temecula Prep boys basketball coach to lead the Wolfpack into the upcoming season.
Hall takes over for Derrick Love, who went 4 and 14 overall and 0 and 10 in Southwestern League play during his lone season in charge.
The change gives Great Oak a fresh start after a difficult year in one of Southern California’s competitive league environments.
The hire also brings proven head coaching experience to the program. Hall has been leading the boys basketball team at Temecula Prep, where he built a reputation for structure, player development, and competitive teams.
Moving from a boys program into the girls game is not uncommon at the high school level, especially when schools want an experienced coach who can quickly reset standards and build momentum.

For Great Oak, the timing is important. Making the move ahead of the new season gives Hall a full offseason to evaluate the roster, organize summer workouts, establish expectations, and begin shaping the team’s identity before league play begins.
That early period often determines how quickly a program can respond after a coaching change.
The Wolfpack girls program now enters a new chapter with the goal of climbing back inside league competition and becoming more consistent across the season.
Great Oak has long carried a strong athletics reputation, and basketball remains one of the programs expected to compete at a higher level.
Hall now steps into a role with immediate challenges and clear opportunity. Returning players get a new voice and a reset, while younger athletes in the pipeline will have the chance to compete for spots as the roster takes shape.
After a 4 win season, Great Oak has made a direct move toward change. The next focus now shifts from the hiring announcement to how quickly David Hall can help turn the Wolfpack around once the new season begins.
