Bryceville, Florida is mourning the loss of Earl L. Fouraker Sr., a longtime Baldwin Middle-Senior High School educator, coach and vice principal who died on June 10, 2026, after a battle with acute leukemia. He was 74.
Fouraker spent decades shaping young lives in the Baldwin community, where he was known first as an athlete and later as a teacher, mentor and leader.
A fourth generation Bryceville resident, he grew up in the area and graduated from Baldwin Middle-Senior High School, where he stood out in track, basketball and football.
His athletic talent earned him a football scholarship to Florida State University.
After earning his degree in education from Florida State, Fouraker returned home to Baldwin and began a career that would leave a lasting mark on generations of students.
He taught, coached and mentored at the school before later earning his Master of Education from Nova University and becoming vice principal.
Over the years, Fouraker became one of the most respected names in the Baldwin school system. His impact was recognized in a lasting way when the schoolโs football field was named The Earl Fouraker Field in his honor.
That tribute reflected the reputation he built over 35 years of service to students, families and staff in the Baldwin community.
A life built around family, school and the community
Fourakerโs family said his illness moved quickly. Lacy Fouraker Van Sickle shared just days before his death that her father had been diagnosed with acute leukemia and that the disease had spread rapidly over the previous month.
She asked people to pray for the family as they spent every moment they could with him.
Those close to him are now remembering not just the educator and coach, but the man he was at home. He was described as a devoted husband, loving father and playful Pawpaw whose guidance and strength anchored the people around him.
His family said his absence leaves a โcanyonโ in the hearts of the people who loved him most.
Fouraker was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, his father in law and his daughter Heidi. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lou Ellen, his sons Rock and Thomas, his daughter Lacy, eleven grandchildren, his sister Marlene, his mother in law Stella Thornton, and several nieces and nephews.
The family also said Fouraker remained deeply connected to his faith and was a lifelong member of Bryceville First Baptist Church. Outside of school and church, he loved spending time in the woods, including running deer dogs and listening to fox races.
Community remembers a teacher who changed lives
The response from former students and friends has been immediate and heartfelt. One former student wrote,
โMr. Fouraker was a good man. His guidance, encouragement, and dedication helped shape the futures of countless young people at Baldwin HS.โ
Another remembered him as a โnight schoolโ teacher who tried hard to help students succeed.
That kind of reaction speaks to the reach Fouraker had in the community. He was not just a coach on the sidelines or an administrator in the building. He was a steady presence, a familiar name and a person many people trusted over the years.
His family has now shared funeral arrangements. Services will be held on Saturday, June 13, at Bryceville First Baptist Church, located at 7732 US 301 in Bryceville. The viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Brandy Branch Cemetery.
For Baldwin and Bryceville, Earl Fourakerโs death marks the loss of a man whose life was tied to the school, the field, the church and the family he loved. His name already lives on in the football field that bears it, but for many in the community, his real legacy will be measured in the students, athletes and families he helped shape.
