Kingston High School’s girls varsity flag football team is one win away from a Section IX title.
The Tigers advanced to the Section IX Class A championship game after a 7-0 semifinal win over Monroe-Woodbury on May 26, 2026.
The victory sent Kingston into the final against Middletown, with the title game scheduled for Friday, May 29 at 8 p.m. at James I. O’Neill High School in Highland Falls.
Tickets are available through GoFan, and the game will also be streamed on the NFHS Network.
The Section IX bracket shows Kingston as the No. 3 seed in the Class A tournament, while Middletown enters as the top seed and defending sectional champion.
Kingston’s path to the final has included a string of strong results over the past few weeks, including wins over Goshen Central, Valley Central, Pine Bush and Monroe-Woodbury. The Tigers have now won four straight games heading into the championship.
Kingston’s run through the bracket
Kingston’s recent stretch has shown the kind of balance that matters in flag football. The Tigers opened the run with a 21-0 win at Goshen Central on May 11, followed by a 20-7 win at Valley Central on May 13.
They then beat Pine Bush 7-6 on May 15 before shutting out Monroe-Woodbury in the semifinal. That sequence gave Kingston momentum at exactly the right time, and it helped set up a title shot against the team that has spent much of the postseason at the top of the bracket.

The school district’s announcement called the semifinal win a “thrilling” result and asked fans to come out for the championship game.
The matchup gives Kingston a chance to finish the season with a Section IX crown after taking care of business in the semifinals.
For Kingston, the opportunity is clear. Beat Middletown on Friday night, and the Tigers bring home a sectional title.
Lose, and the season still ends with a strong playoff run, but the bracket path shows this team has already proven it belongs on the final stage.
The championship game now becomes the biggest test of Kingston’s season, and the Tigers will get the chance to settle it under the lights in Highland Fall.
