Major League Baseball’s official no-hitter archive now stands at 327 games after the Astros’ latest combined no-hitter on May 25, 2026.
With Tatsuya Imai, Steven Okert, and Alimber Santa combining to blank the Texas Rangers in a 9–0 win at Globe Life Field, Major League Baseball officially reached 327 no-hitters all-time.
The milestone came on Memorial Day in Arlington and marked the first no-hitter in the majors since September 2024.
It was also the 18th no-hitter in Astros franchise history, continuing a stretch in which Houston has become one of baseball’s most prolific no-hit teams.
“Proud of our pitching,” Astros manager Joe Espada said afterward. “That first inning, you would never have thought that was going to be the outcome of the game. But I tip my hat to Imai. He continued to pitch, he continued to compete. Strong six innings and the rest is history.”
That number includes every no-hitter in league history, from solo efforts to combined outings, and MLB’s own record page makes clear that a no-hitter remains one of the rarest accomplishments in the sport.
There have been 327 no-hitters total, and the latest entry is the Astros’ 9-0 win over the Rangers by Tatsuya Imai, Steven Okert and Alimber Santa.
What makes the list interesting is that no-hitters are no longer only the work of one pitcher.
Teams now lean on deeper bullpens, matchup-based relief plans and tighter pitch limits, which is why combined no-hitters show up more often in recent years.
MLB’s archive reflects that shift, with many of the newest entries coming from the 2020s and 2010s.
The latest Astros no-hitter also reinforced a trend that has become part of the modern record book. It was the first no-hitter in the majors since the Cubs’ combined effort on Sept. 4, 2024, and it pushed Houston deeper into the top spot for combined no-hitters among MLB teams.
A no-hitter is already a clean, dramatic baseball storyline. A combined no-hitter adds another layer, because it asks a starter and multiple relievers to protect the same perfect run of outs without allowing a single hit.
The result still lands in the same history column, but the route is different, and that difference is part of why the modern game has produced so many more combined entries.

There are total 327 no-hitters in MLB history. The combined section is just one part of that full archive, but it is the part that has become more common as the game has changed.
The full record now includes some of the biggest names in recent baseball, from Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer to Blake Snell, Dylan Cease and the Astros’ latest trio.
What counts as a no-hitter in MLB?
Officially, a no-hitter occurs when a pitcher or group of pitchers completes at least nine innings without allowing a hit.
That doesn’t mean no baserunners. Walks, hit batters, errors and wild pitches can all happen during a no-hitter. The only thing missing is a hit.
Perfect games are even rarer. In a perfect game, nobody reaches base at all. Every perfect game is a no-hitter. Not every no-hitter is a perfect game.
That distinction matters historically because MLB includes both in its official no-hitter archive, with perfect games specially noted.
Astros’ latest no-hitter adds to growing combined-game trend
Houston’s latest entry was a combined no-hitter, which has become increasingly common in the modern era.
Imai handled the first six innings without allowing a hit before handing the ball to Okert. Then came 23-year-old Alimber Santa, making his major league debut, to record the final six outs.
Santa struck out the final batter looking.
“I never pictured myself coming in and finishing off a no-hitter,” Santa said after the game. “What I pictured was coming in and throwing strikes.”
The no-hitter was the fifth combined no-hitter in Astros history, the most by any franchise.
It was also the first MLB no-hitter since the Cubs’ combined effort against Pittsburgh on Sept. 4, 2024.
Which MLB team has the most no-hitters?
Several franchises have long histories with no-hitters, but the leaders are well established.
The Dodgers, Cubs, White Sox, and Astros are among the teams most frequently attached to the feat across different eras.
Houston’s recent success is especially notable. The franchise has now thrown 18 no-hitters, with several coming in the last decade.
That includes:
- Cristian Javier-led combined World Series no-hitter in 2022
- Ronel Blanco vs. Toronto in 2024
- Imai–Okert–Santa vs. Texas in 2026
The Astros have turned no-hitters from rare franchise milestones into something surprisingly familiar.
