Hailey Baptiste’s Father Says She Is Just Getting Started as both Parents Watch the 24-year-old’s Breakthrough Run

Hailey Baptiste’s father saying his daughter is “just getting started” feels like the right line at the right time.

The 24-year-old American is in the middle of the strongest stretch of her career, and the last few months have pushed her from a talented name with upside into a player who is starting to look like a real threat on the biggest stages.

Baptiste is coming off a huge run at the Madrid Open, where she reached her first WTA 1000 semifinal and delivered the biggest win of her career by beating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a dramatic comeback.

She saved six match points in that match, earned her first Top 5 win, and followed it by pushing Mirra Andreeva hard in the semifinal before falling in straight sets. Even in defeat, the week felt like another jump forward.

Baptiste’s rise has clearly been built with strong support around her, and her father remains part of that foundation.

Earlier this year, she spoke about leaning on him for advice and guidance, while he was with her in California during an important part of her season.

When a player is breaking through like this, those details matter because they help explain how someone keeps pushing through the tougher parts of the climb.

Her parents are part of the support behind the breakthrough

The story around Hailey Baptiste’s parents makes more sense when you look at how long this climb has taken. Baptiste turned pro years ago, but 2026 has started to feel like the season when everything is connecting.

She has spoken openly about trying to find her identity as a top player rather than just chasing scattered good weeks, and that kind of progress rarely happens alone.

The support around her has helped her stay grounded while her level has started to rise.

Her father’s presence has been especially visible. Baptiste said she leans on him when she needs guidance, and that kind of line says plenty about the role he still plays in her career.

The “just getting started” message fits because this is not a player sneaking into one lucky run.

This is someone who has been building toward a bigger season and is now starting to put results together across multiple events.

What Hailey Baptiste is doing now and what her current record looks like

Right now, Baptiste is playing the best tennis of her career. Her official WTA profile shows her at World No. 32, which stands as her current career high, and lists her 2026 singles record at 12-10 with no WTA singles title yet.

Those numbers matter because they show she is still building, not finished. The ranking has climbed, the level has climbed, and the title breakthrough still feels like something that could come next if this form continues.

The raw record alone does not tell the full story, though. This season has already included a semifinal run in Abu Dhabi, a quarterfinal run in Miami, and now that breakthrough Madrid semifinal.

In Abu Dhabi, she beat Emma Navarro for one of her biggest wins of the season. In Miami, she kept rising again, and in Madrid she took it a step further by beating the top-ranked player in the world on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

The Madrid run especially changed the tone around her season. Beating Sabalenka from a set down, on clay, while saving six match points, is the kind of win players can build an identity around.

It was not only dramatic. It also showed Baptiste’s range, nerve, and ability to stay in a fight even when the match looked gone.

Baptiste is no longer only a promising American name on the rise. She is now a player with a Top 5 win, a WTA 1000 semifinal, and a season that feels like it may still have much more in it.
