Dierks has turned to a familiar face for its next football leader, naming Lantz Castleman as the new head football coach of the Outlaws after two years on staff.
Castleman steps into the top job with momentum already behind him.
During his time at Dierks, he has served as head track coach and assistant football coach, helping guide the program through a strong stretch that included back-to-back track district championships and a combined 25-12 record across junior high and senior high football.
That background gives the move a natural feel for the program. This is not an outside hire coming in cold.
Dierks is handing the job to a coach who already knows the athletes, the school, and the expectations around the program.
Castleman’s résumé also reaches beyond Dierks. He played at Southern Arkansas University, where he was a four-year starter and earned First Team All-Conference honors for the Muleriders.

The post announcing his hire described him as a coach built around a blue-collar mentality, the same approach that shaped his own playing days and now sits at the center of how he wants his teams to work.
That experience carried into his coaching path as well.
Castleman previously helped Mena reach the 4A state championship game and also served as head coach at Horatio, giving him another layer of head-coaching experience before this latest opportunity with the Outlaws.
Dierks is not only betting on his football background. The school is also betting on his broader connection to the community.
The announcement highlighted that his wife Ariel teaches at Dierks, and that the family is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, youth sports, the booster club, and other community efforts.
In a town where school athletics often reach well beyond Friday nights, that matters.
The post also noted that Castleman thanked Superintendent Grover Hill and Athletic Director Paul Ernest for the opportunity.
Ernest is moving into the role of high school principal, which adds another layer of transition around the program as Dierks gets ready for the next football season.
For the Outlaws, the timing now shifts from announcement to preparation.
Castleman takes over with a track record of winning inside the school, previous head-coaching experience, and a football background that already carries weight in Arkansas circles.
The next step is turning that into progress on Friday nights.
Dierks clearly believes it already has the right person in the building. Now the Outlaws will see what that looks like with Lantz Castleman in charge of the full program.
