Butte College football is bringing back its Summer Golf Scramble on June 8 at Butte Creek Country Club, and the event looks built to do more than just fill a day on the course.

It is part fundraiser, part alumni reunion and part community show of support for the Roadrunners, with a 10:30 a.m. check in, 18 holes, food, prizes and a long list of sponsorship options designed to help the program raise money while bringing people around the team together.

Thaollege football programs at the junior college level often lean on community events like this to build resources, keep alumni connected and give local businesses a way to stay involved.

Butte College is leaning into all of that. The tournament is presented by United Building Contractors, Inc., with Danny Salas serving as the pre tournament beverage sponsor, and the school is also using the scramble to keep growing its partner base for the 2026 program year.

The event page points to connect with alumni, community members and friends of the program while raising money for football.

    Why this scramble stands out

The sponsor menu tells the story of how serious the fundraiser is. This is not just a simple golf day with a handful of local supporters. The event has a full structure, from higher level packages like the $10,000 Presenting Sponsor, which is already sold out, down through the Golden Roadrunner, BC Pride, Small Business Sponsor, contest hole packages and single golfer add ons.

The range matters because it gives the program multiple ways for people to get involved, whether they want to bring a full foursome, sponsor a contest hole or just support the team at a lower entry point.

There is also a practical side to the setup. Several sponsor packages include golfer spots, tournament branding, signage at registration, recognition on the website, mentions in game day materials and even opportunities to meet golfers on the tee box.

That is the kind of structure that makes sense for a school trying to turn one event into year round support.

The event also has a clear social side. The promotion includes food, drinks, raffle tickets, swag bags and on course contests such as closest to the pin and long drive.

There is even a Super Bowl Hole In One Sponsor package that gives golfers a chance at a trip for two to the Super Bowl if they hit the shot on the sponsored hole.

That kind of detail gives the scramble a little more energy than a standard fundraiser and helps explain why these events tend to draw alumni and local business support.

Butte College also appears to be using the scramble as a way to keep building a broader football network. The invitation to become a 2026 program partner makes it clear that the fundraiser is part of a larger outreach effort, not just a one day cash grab.

The school is looking for repeat support, repeat participation and repeat visibility, which is exactly how a program like this strengthens its base.

A recent post also highlighted community backing, thanking the Karthauser Family for partnering as a hole sponsor for the event.

A June golf event gives the Roadrunners a summer anchor point when football is otherwise quiet.

It gives the community a chance to show up before the season begins, and it gives the program a chance to build momentum heading into fall. For a college football team, that kind of off field support can matter just as much as what happens on Saturdays.

For anyone looking at the event from the outside. Butte College football is not just hosting a golf tournament. It is turning the scramble into a full program moment, with alumni, local businesses, coaches, supporters and players all part of the same day.
