Britt Redman’s story has already gone well beyond high school football.
The Christian Academy of Louisville receiver, son of Chris and Ashley Redman, fought through advanced testicular cancer after a diagnosis in late 2023, went through six surgeries and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, then returned to the field in fall 2024 after being declared cancer-free in the spring.
He later built that experience into the Grit Like Britt Foundation, which is now giving back in a very public way.
That foundation was in the spotlight during the Louisville Kings’ 37-23 win over the Dallas Renegades on May 24, 2026.
During the game night presentation, the Grit Like Britt Foundation recognized Louisville Male football player Chayce Burton with a scholarship, a moment that quickly spread online through posts from his school and coach.
The move added a personal layer to a game that already mattered on the UFL calendar.
The scholarship fit the message Redman has been building since his comeback.
He has become one of the more visible examples of how a hard recovery can turn into a platform for something bigger.

UK HealthCare honored him as its 2025 Male Comeback Athlete of the Year, and the NFHS also recognized him with its Section 2 Spirit of Sport Award after his return to football and his championship run with Christian Academy.
Redman’s path has been public for more than a year. In 2024 coverage, he described getting back on the field after treatment, and later stories showed him helping Christian Academy win a KHSAA Class 3A state title after being cancer-free.
That background is what makes the scholarship presentation stand out: it was not just a feel-good moment at a football game, but the next step in a story built on recovery, family support and using his own experience to help someone else.
For Louisville, the night also came with a result on the field. The Kings took care of the Renegades behind a strong all-around performance, and the win kept their season moving in the right direction.
But the moment that carried farther than the final score was the one tied to Redman’s foundation, because it showed that his comeback is no longer just about one player returning to football.
